Girls' beach weekend packing essentials

We recently had the opportunity to take a quick girls' beach weekend getaway to Destin, Florida, and it was such a treat to have a few days for us moms to feel pampered and relaxed. You can read all about it in our Henderson Beach Resort review. While we have the beach on our minds, we thought we'd share some of the girls' weekend essentials that we packed so that we'd have the most relaxing and fun weekend possible.

Pink laptop tote bag from Sherpani

A great travel bag A solid travel bag is like the foundation for any good trip, and we were super impressed with the Sherpani Jetsetter Totes they sent us to try out. It has tons of space without looking like an over-sized bag, and we loved all the exterior pockets while you're traveling—spots for plane tickets, passports...all those things you need to grab quickly but keep stashed away safely.

Blue floral buttery soft robe from Laura Ashley

A soft, cozy robe I'm a bit of a robe snob. I like to wake up and drink coffee in my robe before really getting started on my day. Laura Ashley kindly sent us their buttery soft robe for this weekend away, and YOU GUYS, this robe has moved to the #1 spot in my robe collection. When I say it is buttery soft...it is buttery soft. And at this price, you could bring one as a gift for everyone in your girls' weekend group!

A Marriage Portrait by Maggie O'Farrell on the beach

A good book It feels like a small luxury for me to sit on the beach and read a good book, so it’s on my must-pack list for any girls’ trip weekend. Even if you will get interrupted by great conversation so many times that you never actually read it. My current TBR list includes Maggie O’Farrell’s The Marriage Portait, Nemonte Nenquimo’s We Will Be Jaguars, Caro Claire Burke’s Yesteryear, and Yoko Ogawa’s The Memory Police.

Folk Floral one piece compression swimsuit from Carve

A new swimsuit At the beach, a swimsuit is your daily uniform, so splurge on a new one for your weekend away. We were able to try out some of the new swimsuits and rashguards (because, middle age and skin cancer don't go great together) from Carve Designs for our weekend away, and I was very impressed with the quality. After nursing three kids and joking that my boobs are now 34-longs, I appreciated the support the Sol Compression One Piece gave me. There are multiple layers of fabric to this suit, so I truly felt like everything was staying in place in a good way.

Mahjong tiles from The Mahjong House

A fun game Let's be honest, the conversation isn't going to lag...but that doesn't mean you might not want some organized fun with your crew. Nights out at the club are fun, but you know, maybe not every night. You might make the most memories with a nice bottle of champagne and a few rounds of mahjong on the balcony overlooking the ocean one evening. This gorgeous set from The Mahjong House is perfect for your trip, and you'll keep using it all year long.

Red striped Turkish beach towel at Target

A Turkish-style beach towel We're obsessed with the thin, lightweight Turkish towels that double as a coverup and beach towel all in one. This organic cotton version from Target is a great size, and it's on sale now for half-off, which is even better.
