This year I'll be on crutches trying to pull together the perfect holiday meal, which I've already realized is going to have to be super "good enough." So, I've decided I should focus on cocktails, and lots of them. These fun cocktail na…
Since having kids, my insatiable hunger for all things art, fashion, and design has been unsatisfied. And rightfully so. I barely have time to eat an actual breakfast, let alone devour the piles of magazines I once looked to for inspirat…
Every year, I make two kinds of holiday cookies from recipes that have been passed down from my mom. But yummy as the traditional family recipes are, I'm ready to branch out from the same old pecan balls and sugar cookies, and try and st…
Just when I was thinking "You know what would be cool? An ottoman made to look like an ice cream cookie!" our friends at Jellio came along and beat me to it. We've long admired this furniture designer's wildly imaginative creativity. And…
It's quite possible that I might never set foot in an actual store again. I mean why bother schlepping outside when everything you could possibly want is a few clicks away? When I say everything, I mean the most gorgeous French designer …
I'm not sure which is cooler, the actual lyziwraps reusable gift bags that I just discovered, or the story behind them. They were originally designed by an 8th Grader, for an innovation competition, who was trying to find a way to decrea…
Having a baby right at the change of season is very dangerous for my wallet because it's far too easy to rationalize a new diaper bag purchase. Something swanky. Something current. Something that makes me feel more stylish and less enorm…
It's soooo haaaaard to open my inbox and find an email inviting me to sample a new artisanal chocolate bar. Really, it's right up there with letters from Nigerian Princes and notices about my "Paypol Account," but you know. I am so devot…
You may already know we're big fans of Barley & Birch here at CMP, and if you love this eco-conscious line of kids' clothing as much as we do, then you're probably going to want to know about their amazing Super Sale --beginning today--i…
I love surprises. Especially ones that arrive at my door wrapped in a hot pink box. It's not for the kids, not for my husband, but all for me . That's just what Birchbox is all about--subscribe and you'll get a box of high-end cosmetic s…
I live in the desert, so I fully cop to craving the cold. I start wearing sweaters way too early in the hopes of somehow forcing the weather to cool more quickly. I usually succeed only in sweating. But now we're fully in the midst of a …
We are what you'd call foodies at my place, despite my sigOth absolutely hating that term. Whatever it means when your pantry is filled with lots of little jars, and you tend to have more kinds of mustards in your fridge than most superm…
Wishing you a very spooky (but safe) Halloween, mamas from Kristen, Liz, Christina, Delilah, Julie and the rest of the Cool Mom Picks team - may you survive the sugar crashes and score a solid week's worth of Reese's Pieces peanut butter…
The good thing about Halloween falling on a Sunday this year is that one very valuable extra weekend day to get ready. Check out theses posts, take a deep breath and say ohm. Then go crack open those Reeses. Last minute Halloween costume…
What is it about vintage prints that I am so drawn to? Maybe it's that the quirky quality, mixed with a nostalgic feel just make happy when I see them. Now there's an online shop that taps directly into that feeling an an extensive colle…
I'm definitely an eco-minded person, but I don't think I'm alone when I admit that sometimes convenience wins out over conscience. For years I've stuffed my son's lunch box with pre-packaged snacks or plastic snack bags, but I think I've…
The cool, crisp air of fall is here, and moms everywhere are pulling out their baby lotion arsenals to keep eczema and dry skin at bay. For me, the toughest part about having kids with sensitive skin is finding just the right product tha…
If there was ever a time to play with food, it's Halloween. Spaghetti guts, Jello-brains...come on! Who doesn't love that! Thanks to the folks at Barefoot Books, we've found a bunch of tasty, scary recipes that your kiddos can help you m…
You know what's scary? Realizing you've invited a bunch of little butterflies and superheroes to invade your home for a pre-trick-or-treating soiree, and then realizing your house is not ready. Ahem. Since making a last-minute dash to a …
I'm pretty sure that most mamas will agree that there's nothing--nothing!--like a good children's book. Or a box full of them. Or, if your kids are anything like my 3-year-old, a bedroom that is basically Book Central. But my kiddo is al…
Yeah, we know. It's the week before Halloween, and pretty much everything is "so fabulous it's scary." Still, subscribing to the Cool Mom Picks newsletter truly is a treat. And there's no trick-- we promise. So what's coming to haunt you…
Just when I think I'm over diaper bags, I see the new It diaper bag and I think I must have it. However, what I really need is a non-diaper bag diaper bag. In other words, one that functions like a diaper bag, but really is just a cool b…
Your spouse fell in love with you, married you, and actually consented to create tiny people with you. And when you get to the Happy Anniversary section of the greeting card display, what are your choices? Gold-trimmed champagne glasses …
Scout Collection was the first company I ever encountered at a trade show that was totally committed to organic kids clothes and fair trade practices, but designed with styling that could hold its own in any chic urban boutique. This was…
