Do you ever have that dream--the one where you go to a big, magical store, and everything is shiny and pretty and on a 50% off sale? I do, and I'm usually riding a glittery pink unicorn with shopping baskets as saddle bags. That's why I'…
I'm a huge fan of Robert Subuda and Matthew Reinhart's pop up children's books. My son's copies from the Encyclopedia Prehistorica series show the wear and tear of well-read books. So why am I not surprised that I am awestruck by their b…
My very favorite word is cupcake , but I'm also a huge fan of funky, simple, and handmade . Luckily, those are the specialties of Mountain Aven Baby . Well, maybe not the cupcake part. But the other three. We see loads of bibs and blanke…

For the last five years, I have done my best to figure out what the heck to do with my oldest daughter's awesome artwork. As you probably know, the fridge display only works for so long, and while framing it would be nice, how do I pick …
Saying you love me with flowers is great, but on Mother's Day , please don't get me a smiling kitten n' rainbow mug full of carnations and daisies. I'd much rather have a bed of bamboo accented by one gorgeous orchid, or maybe some spark…
With my kids still completely obsessed with their age and name, I'm always on the look out for cool letter and number t-shirts that won't break the bank. Who knew I could look no further than American Apparel for exactly what I've been l…
It was somewhere in my mid-twenties that I vowed to never again buy a cheesy reproduction; adults collected art, not dog-eared posters. Of course, it didn't occur to me that most work I would consider "art," would probably be far too dea…
I've been a huge fan of the Kickboard USA scooters ever since I witnessed my then two-year-old take off down the driveway on his royal blue Mini Kickboard. Three years later, if there's anything that could make his ride more fun, it woul…

Luckily, my kid's not as clumsy as I am. But lately, she keeps hoping to have a minor accident, because she knows I have two new boxes of super sweet kids bandages by Ouchies Jr. Although we select cereal and crackers based on nutritiona…

One of the best ways I've found to get a message to stick with my kids is through music, and the new CD My Changing Planet has us appreciating the specialness of our planet a little more this Earth Day. Like a save-the-earth version of F…
My mom has always had a thing for vintage cards, particularly valentines. My dining room growing up was filled with shadow boxes holding beautiful, textural Victorian cards and I remember just losing myself in them for hours. I figure I …
I've been to enough birthday parties to have witnessed that infamous phenomenon by which the giftee ignores all the fancy toys and plays with a box instead. And while I wouldn't recommend you wrap up a plain box, I think the recipient of…
Of course we want to make sure that each and every mom is treated like the goddess she is on Mother's Day, but it's also important to make sure that grandmas are not overlooked. After all, they had a little something to do with each of u…
