I love watching my daughter saunter through the house with a guitar slung around her neck. Sure, her guitar has buttons instead of strings and comes from her dad's Guitar Hero game, but it still looks pretty badass. This explains why I a…
We have the world's stupidest cell phone charging set-up at our home. Meaning we plug it in, set it on the floor, and act amazed as the baby gets to the wire every time. Then today I discovered the Driin mobile phone holder and it's so s…
Sometimes you really dig a piece of art just because it's cool. But sometimes you get to know the back story and suddenly it's that much more meaningful. Such is the case of the charming Lulu the Dog paintings from Massachusetts artist, …
My first email to my editor after reviewing the UPPAbaby Bubble was This contraption rocks! Let me backtrack a bit here. If you crane your neck to peek at my baby in his carrier, I'll gladly angle him to give you a better view because I'…
At last count, we had twelve ride-on toys in our garage so I am definitely an expert in that department. Of all these toys, I want to sing the praises of two that stand out from the crowd: The Mini Micro scooter and the oddly named Skooo…

Every year we fall in love with the idea of the kids surprising dad in a cool daddy tattoo tee on Father's Day. The most hard-core, manly man, I-only-watch-Steven-Segal-movies papa will melt at the sight of his beloved progeny avowing th…
Since having kids, I'm definitely understanding the joys of multipurpose kids furniture: Dressers with changing pads on top, children's tables with toy storage underneath, infant car seats that function as rockers. One of the latest entr…
Considering I'm not living in the Amazon, or even the deep south, I never entirely understood the appeal of those mosquito nets that go over the baby carriage. And then, last week, my baby got bit by a tick. Yikes. She's fine, but I can …

We've written on occasion about our aversion to baby blankets that are too pretty to use. To say nothing of being spit up on, peed on, caught in the rain and soaked with other substances of unknown origin. All-weather blankets are a gods…

When choosing Father's Day gifts for the daddies in my life, I strive to present them with a memorable token of affection. It doesn't have to be extravagant or costly, but it has to be meaningful. Which automatically rules out socks. The…
Swimsuit shopping has never been one of my favorite outings - not even in the days before I had to reconcile my hot mama ideals with my postpartum realities. The suits that look great on a hanger generally become total fashion don'ts on …
If there's one complaint I have about some eco-friendly toys it's that they tend to look pretty eco-friendly. That's great when you love ecru with a side of pale, but not so much when you're trying to engage your little one with bright f…
One of the best fashion trends to hit children's wear - no, not custom bling shirts - is the use of fair trade organic cotton. The more demand there is for it, the more companies are working hard to come up with really appealing fabrics …
There's nothing like the smell of freshly washed baby clothes, except thanks to my kids' sensitive skin, their clothes don't really smell like anything at all. So I'm thinking of grabbing a few of these adorable owl sachets to toss in th…
I failed Baby Book 101. I started with good intentions: She rolled over! Must write this down in the baby book! Then something would distract me, and I’d forget until the next milestone occurred. Which I'd forget to record as well. I wis…
Of course the one month I think ahead and stash tampons and other "lady items" in my purse is the month I get pregnant. But most of the time, I'm a fly by the seat of my panty liner type woman, making me the perfect candidate for the Tom…
