One of my favorite go-to blogs for design inspiration, whether it's a fun kids' bedroom, an unexpected party theme, or a cool DIY project is Oh Happy Day . Jordan's impeccable taste and fun use of color just makes me, well, happy. And no…
From Eat, Pray, Love to The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel , we’ve been enamored with the colors and textures of India for a while now. And now Tea Collection (we just can't quit you, Tea!) has us obsessing once again with their spring/summe…
It's "please drink more water, kids" season around here. But you know that feeling at the end of the day when there are little stacks of drinking glasses filling the dishwasher or sink because each of your kids was thirsty and used a new…
I like trying new makeup, but I'm also ridiculously picky. I tend to have a cosmetics bag full of lots of different brands because one makes a good mascara, another makes the perfect smudgy liner. You get it. However Delilah Cosmetics , …
We fell so in love with Candylab Toys and their gorgeous, modern-looking wood cars when we saw them over the holidays last year, they easily made 2014 Best Toys, Dolls, and Games list . Now our engines are all revved up again to see that…
They may be growing up oh-so-fast, but our elementary-school aged kids are more than happy to get as messy as their toddler selves used to, especially when it's all in good fun. Our tip: Every so often, it's okay to get messy. So throw o…
We're so happy to be back with our third #UnguiltyPleasures video episode ! (Can you tell we're having fun?) This time we're talking about food. More specifically, the foods we love -- but maybe we're not supposed to love quite as much a…
You know that time your kid turns 6 (or 5 or 7) and suddenly they start losing a whole slew of teeth in what feels like five minutes? That's what's going on in my house right now, as my daughter yanks out tooth after tooth. Seriously, th…
I have a four-year-old. And in spite of putting him to sleep in his own bed each night, I wake up to his sweet little face beside me in my bed almost every single morning. I'm okay with that, but I am ready for whatever magical solution …
Today's rules: 1. If you're a kid, don't forget to take care of your mom. 2. If you're a mom, don't forget to take care of yourself. 3. That mess in the living room/kids' room/kitchen/front hallway? It can wait. Ideally until someone els…
I found out today that 30 percent of moms living below the poverty line can't afford the diapers they need for their babies. As in, sometimes their kids have to wear the same diaper all day long because that's all they have. I shouldn't …
My kids have a penchant for falling in love with tiny things. I can't blame them; I'm the very same way. The smaller and cuter a toy happens to be, the more we all adore it. So how could we resist the heart-meltingly adorable creations o…
My favorite part of any holiday is the food, and Mother's Day is no exception. What I want most this year is to sit around the table with family eating and laughing. One of my new favorite ways to make everybody happy, including me, the …
Each year for the last few years, we've been tracking down our favorite funny Mother's Day cards. Of course humor is subjective, but I always try to stay away from the cards that reduce her to a laundress/cook/taxi driver. Also all the M…
It's probably no surprise that I have a penchant for shopping , but for about the last six months in particular, I've actually been trying to cut back, seeing as how we've now got braces, and summer camp, and hopefully a family vacation …
If you've parented toddlers, you're probably familiar with Todd Parr's children's books, and his distinctively child-like illustrations. Well, my interest was piqued when I found out about his free new ebook that happens to be for parent…
Beauty is a delicate thing to talk about, especially as a mom raising girls. I want my girls to feel great about themselves no matter what; but I can't deny that beauty is a part of our society -- whether you define that as simply puttin…
You buy all sorts of toys to fill the nursery while prepping for baby, then they start to grow and you find yourself wondering which toys are right for them and for which developmental milestones . Those long aisles full of very brightly…
I'll be honest that after having four kids, I wasn't sure I'd ever be adding skinny jeans to my wardrobe. While I eventually lost the baby weight (well, most of it anyway), the extra skin made me feel self-conscious. But with some carefu…
Mother's Day may be one of our favorite holidays for obvious reasons, but it's also obvious that not all kids have a mother living in their family. For young kids in this situation, this can be a difficult time, especially in school when…
There are plenty of online retailers (and PR emails in our inbox) declaring, " Find your mom the perfect gift this Mother's Day! " Turns out they're talking everything from hair color to bathing suits. But one site that I think totally d…
Back in December, when we asked teachers for the Best Teacher Gift Ideas , by far the most cherished gift mentioned was a handwritten note or card from their students. Just a few words to let them know that all their hard work made a dif…
Next up in our series of #UnguiltyPleasures (you did catch us confessing all our binge watching secrets, right?) is online shopping . And yes, that's probably kind of obvious considering what we do here at Cool Mom Picks. But we just lov…
When it comes to showing moms our unending appreciation for all the hard work they've put in for us over the years—especially now that we get it a little better ourselves — we always want to make Mother's Day incredibly special. And yet,…
