There's a saying in real estate: location, location, location. But after that's out of the way, in New York we tend to put a premium on character. You know, exposed brick, tin ceilings, original wood floors. (Don't ever expect to find wa…
Are we there yet? It's one of those perpetual jokes paid forward by each generation. You're going to torture your parents? That's fine. One day, your kids will torture you in turn. And that day is now. And even your noise-canceling headp…
City Threads is a great little clothing company that I've raved about before. You can recognize their "Brooklyn" bucket hats on many a hipster kid at the nearest playground in my (nowhere near Brooklyn) neighborhood. Now they are finally…
Poor Bun-Bun. I received the stuffed pink rabbit at my first baby shower for my first baby, and he's been around and loved ever since. Two houses, two kids, and one horrifying overnight stay in the litterbox had turned Bun-Bun from a che…
It's summertime which means if you're like us, you probably rock flip flops like they are going out of style. And to lots of us, flip flops are synonymous with Brazil's stylish, comfy, long-wearing Havaianas. And now there's a new collec…
An insane number of crafters on Etsy are making all manners of barrettes, hair bands and baby bows, some with adornments larger nearly as large the actual baby. (I never got that, I have to say.) Searching for something tasteful can be a…
I spend a lot of time lately telling my kids about the "dangers of the sun" as I apply yet another layer of SPF 30+. But this weekend, we spent a lot of time talking about the cool art that the sun can make with this creative new kit fro…
Sometimes art just speaks to you, and that's how I felt gazing at the beautiful original artwork from artist Rachel Austin. I was poking around the Poppytalk Marketplace and discovered Rachel's wonderful mixed media map paintings . Clear…
If you bought a Peg Perego stroller between January 2004 and September 2010, you'll want to check to be sure it's not one of the 223,000 strollers that are only just now being recalled after an infant died in 2004. Little ones, particula…
You never forget your first pair of Docs. And I imagine you'll never forget your first Doc Martens bag that melds their steadfast styling with the gorgeous fabrics of Liberty London. Who said punk couldn't be pretty? When two British sty…
Nothing says summer to me like campfires and s'mores. Although being a city person, I can't say I spend as much time with campfires as I do with s'mores. Luckily, you don't need a bonfire either to enjoy the chocolate and melted marshmal…
This October, my youngest daughters will be turning 4 and 2 and as part of our family tradition, they will be wearing hand-me-down Courtney Courtney kids' dresses . We first featured them in 2008 on Cool Mom Picks, and designer Courtney …
Between the heatwaves and the crazy downpours, I feel like we've been getting more use out of our creative indoor toys this summer than our scooters. And now here's one more that I'm just smitten with, because it's more than just a build…
Sally Ride was the first woman in space, and saying that the space she's left behind is hard to fill is an understatement. But we've found a beautiful kids' book to help your little girl dream big, just like Sally. My Name Is Not Isabell…

Tap water's making a comeback, and here's a great way to share the love. And the water. On the surface, Faucet Face is a company that sells glass water bottles. But behind the scenes, they're trying to start a movement towards tap water …
We get kind of excited when we find any cool boys clothes, as you well know, and even more so when we find great boys clothes on sale. Especially when they're from from one of our favorite shops--and CMP sponsors-- Red 21 Boys . Here, ju…
Last week I got a sneak peek at a cool new collaboration between design gurus and parents (of seven!) Bob and Courtney Novogratz and CB2. When I did, all I could do is smile. The colorful wool Family Rug charmed me right off the bat; and…
With so many of us parents of school-aged kids, we were surprised that we didn't realize just how big the impact of bullying can be. According to the National Crime Prevention Council, about 160,000 kids won't go to school each day for f…
As minor as my kids' milestones might seem in the great scheme of things, I still do my fair share of celebrating them. All night in your own bed? Yes! So I decided that I too deserve to treat myself with a little reward for making it th…
Don't even get me started on the hassle of shoe shopping for kids. The second my son started walking last month, I knew we were in for a new pair of shoes every couple of months, just like I had done for his older brother. But then I dis…
Here are a few of our favorite tech picks on Cool Mom Tech from the last week, just in case you missed them. 1. This scuba suit for your iPhone can allow you to take pictures underwater! 2. Want to try running but aren't sure where to st…
Molly Ledford and her band of merry Lunch Money mates are just such supreme goodness. We are big fans of theirs here at Cool Mom Picks, but this new CD, Spicy Kid, just might take the cake. Er, peanut butter sandwich. This CD is a combin…
We've found a set of free Olympics printables that bring the excitement of the far-away Olympics a little closer, no passport required. Which is great because the closest we're going to get to London for the Summer Olympics is through ou…
