I can hardly believe that Earth Day is older than I am. (Ah, feeling young — what mom doesn’t love that?) Begun in 1970 as a means of demonstrating broad public support for the environmental cause, Earth Day is a reminder that this planet is a pretty cool place to live, and we don’t want it to look like it belongs on an episode of Hoarders.

To that end, the National Wildlife Federation, Nickelodeon, and our friends at The Motherhood have joined forces to create B Kind 2 Earth Day. We’re super excited to be on board too, and we hope you’ll join us.

At the B Kind 2 Earth Day Facebook page, all you do is hit “Like” and then you can share your personal promise to do something good for the Earth today, whether it’s planting a tree, picking up trash in a local park, or just switching to a reusable water bottle.  Right now people are sharing stories, photos of their kids, links to blog posts, making it an inspiring place to be right now.

My personal Earth Day promise? I plan to finally get around to signing up for my neighborhood’s recycling pickup service. –Julie
