Weโ€™re big fans of yogurt here at Cool Mom Picks and with good reason. Itโ€™s an easy go-to that kids love because itโ€™s delicious and we moms love because itโ€™s (mostly) healthy. Unfortunately, some of the most packable yogurts are also the most sugary. Ick! Enter two new options, both of which come in easy-to-tote packaging and have something newโ€“and betterโ€“to offer yogurt fans like us. โ€“Stacie

If youโ€™ve ever tried skyr, traditional Icelandic yogurt, youโ€™ve probably tried a cup of siggiโ€™s (above), the most popular brand of Icelandic-style yogurt here in the States. Now, siggiโ€™s offers squeezable yogurt tubes for kids. Similar to Greek yogurt, skyr is thicker and creamier, thanks to a process that requires 3-4 times as much milk as regular yogurt. More milk means more protein: siggiโ€™s yogurt tubs have more than twice the protein of most tube yogurts, and even beat popular greek-style yogurt tubes by a gram.

That alone is great, but siggiโ€™s takes it further by keeping the ingredients as simple as Iโ€™ve ever seen: milk, cane sugar, fruitโ€“blueberries, raspberries or strawberriesโ€“and live active cultures. You canโ€™t beat that. The one catch is that, like all skyr, these yogurt tubes have a bit of a chalky aftertaste. Less so than siggiโ€™s yogurt cups, which worked well enough for my kids, but still something to keep in mind.

Squeeze tubes have big kids covered, but now, thanks to Cool Mom favorite Happy Baby, little kids have a Greek yogurt snack just for them. Happy Baby Greek Yogurt pouches come in three flavors that combine yogurt with fruit and veggie purees.

Each 3.5 ounce pouch offers 2 grams of protein. Although the sugar content is a bit high at 13 to 16 grams, itโ€™s important to keep in mind that thereโ€™s no added sugar. All of the sweetness comes from fruit puree and concentrate, making these comparable to other baby fruit/vegetable/yogurt combos. So while Iโ€™d keep littles from pounding these (and definitely keep from treating them as a replacement for whole fruits and veg), itโ€™s hard to deny their convenience. A tasty option to have in your toddler snack pantry, for sure.
