Here’s what I’ve learned: Your daughter may be all Thomas, Thomas! now but in no time at all, that train love will become Abby Cadabby, which becomes Uniqua which becomes I only like things that are purple and turquoise but mostly purple. Which is why I can’t say I love character bedding for kids. But I do like the Canadian-made Wee Organics crib bedding.
The solid color-blocked organic cotton interlock bedding sets are quite affordable at $159 for a crib sheet, skirt and blanket, especially considering how nicely they’ll transition when you turn that convertible crib into a toddler bed. And the fleecey backing seems like a nice, soft touch.
You’ll find them all at Canada’s online sustainable kids boutique Saplings. Along with plenty of other organic options, including the brand new Snug as a Bug Organic crib bedding–this one is a bit pricier, but offers some fun prints including a repetitive leaf pattern that looks a lot like designer Orla Kiely came in and did your nursery for you.
As much as the cute baby prints make you ooh and ahh (and yes, I am well familiar with Ooh and Ahh Syndrome), stick with the more versatile ones if you can force yourself. That pregnancy may seem like it’s taking foreeeeeever, but I swear, you blink and they’re four and slamming doors at you. Sigh. –Liz
