Why do babies seem to favor items that were never intended to be playthings? It never fails to amaze me how my kids spurn toys in favor of screwdrivers and old cell phones. But there's one standby that I can always count on to charm a child: Hand puppets. And the ones from design group Noted that we found at Elsewares are some of the cutest I've seen. 

Handmade by artisans in Nepal, these thick wool felt hand puppets feature a zipper closure at the bottom and are roomy enough to accommodate big hands or little hands. They're adorable and fair-trade and I love the creative colors too. Who says all bears are brown, anyway? -Julie
