Not that denim ever went too far away from the kids’ clothing department, but now that it’s on trend for grownups too, new styles are popping up that suddenly feel as fashionable as functionable.
Popular children’s label Baby Star has done a nice job with their new line of organic denim for kids. The Lucy Skirt in particular will get a lot of use, considering the soft, lightweight denim can take you through the cold months right into spring when you swap out the ribbed tights and boots for bloomers and tees. It’s got little stars topstitched onto the back pockets, but what really makes it adorable is this subtle ruffle down the front.
The skirt definitely runs big – I’d say a 3T is more like a 3T and three-quarters – so if you’re iffy on ordering up a size no need. Also because it’s got one of those handy adjustable elastic belts on the inside. Whoever invented those – give them a medal.
I’m also realllly liking the girls’ Aggie denim skirt from one of my favorite labels, Ses Petites Mains. Heck, I’d wear it if it came in my size. Part of the very stylish Tiny Chic Denim line, the exquisite schoolgirl pleating and the swingy A-line silhouette is to die for. It’s sold out in most of the smaller sizes, but if you’ve got a kid 5 and up, grab it now at an amazing sale price. –Liz
