I’m skeptical of products that promise plumper lips–unless it’s chemical injections, which deliver, but which I’m not doing any time soon. I’m talking about products that contain irritants like cinnamon or pepper, which would drive me crazy. So I was intrigued to try out an organic one from Vapour Beauty to see just how it would do its thang without any of that.

Elixir Plumping Lip Gloss from Vapour Beauty is one of the best natural lip glosses I’ve tried. We’ll get to the plumping part later.
The gloss goes on a little thick but not tacky at all, and feels perfectly slick on your lips but not gooey. The colors are quite nice–very sheer, so don’t expect the color you see in the tube, or what you might get from a standard lipstick. I think it looks great over a natural liner.
It’s made with pretty much great stuff, including Acai, Green Tea and Goji berries for their antioxidant properties, Myrrh for hydration, and Iceland Moss which is an anti-microbial but just sounds to me like something cool that Bjork would experiment with.
Now about that claim…
The company says that it “supremely hydrates for plumper, younger iooking lips” and well…I don’t really see any difference in the least. But it doesn’t matter; it’s still a lip gloss I like wearing. I just wouldn’t buy it and suddenly expect to look like Angelina Jolie.
I do like a lip product that’s made with organic and natural ingredients, because honestly, I end up eating it all day. Plus the EWG gives it great ratings, and that’s good enough for me. –Liz
