New Yearโ€™s eve as a parent: How to celebrate when things donโ€™t quite go as planned with the kids.

We all know that parenting means giving up sleep, hygiene (admit it), disposable income, and perhaps, the wild New Yearโ€™s Eve plans of our wonderfully misspent youth. So you can see why I had the best time sitting down with my partners at American Express on behalf of their Amex EveryDay Credit Card, and remembering just what happened one New Yearโ€™s eve a few yearโ€™s back with my kids, when they WOULD NOT GO TO SLEEP.

(Iโ€™m not big on all caps, but holy heck, kids!)

I imagine quite a few of you will be able to relate to this. And donโ€™t worry, thereโ€™s a happy ending.

(While Iโ€™m no Tina Fey, I think the animators totally nailed my outfit, and that my kids are pretty darn cute as cartoon characters.)

However it is that you celebrate tonightโ€“with kids, without kids, with kids who think that itโ€™s midnight a few hours early because you turned ahead the clocksโ€“I hope you make some great memories. If only the memory of falling asleep at 9:30 PM despite every best effort. Iโ€™ve had that EveryDay Moment too, myself.

Thanks to my sponsor American Express for totally letting me cross โ€œbe a cartoonโ€ off my bucket list.

And you can share your own NYE stories with the #EveryDayMoments hashtag on social media, because Iโ€™d love to know Iโ€™m not alone here!  Also check out our video on Back to School Shopping with a kindergartener which might be another story you can relate to.
