How to make a strawberry rose for Valentine's Day -- or any day that needs a little more pretty

How to make a strawberry rose for any day that needs a little more pretty.

Looking for a healthy Valentine’s Day treat for the kids? I’ve got an easy idea that you can pull off even at the very last minute. I recently attempted to make a strawberry rose and it was surprisingly doable–even for non-crafty me! In fact, it was so easy, that I think pretty much anyone can do it, so why not give it a try yourself. Especially if you need a fun flourish for Valentine's Day breakfast, school lunch, or dessert.

I’ve seen several YouTube tutorials, including this Shari's Berries video (because, hello experts), but I used the post on how to make a strawberry rose at One Little Project to guide me, and think that you should too. Debbie's photos and tips are the clearest and, if you ask me, her strawberry roses come out looking the best. Yes, even better than mine. But mine are realistic, damn it, and that's why we are here. Besides Debbie's guidance, all you need to make your very own strawberry roses are strawberries -- pointy ones are best -- and a paring knife. Don't even bother with extra time. Part of the fun of this is that you don't need to practice this ahead. Just dive in and snack on the ones that don't come out right in real time. Because, let's be honest, snacks -- even wonky ones -- are better than a card anyway.
