We're huge fans of Plan Toys around here, and for good reason. These sturdy, eco-friendly and battery-free wooden toys are built to last. And not surprisingly, they're usually priced as such--something I'm more than willing to pay so as …
The adorable personalized baby onesies from Mitetees are some of our favorite baby shower gifts around here, and they've impressed us again, this time with their brand new line of onesies just for the cool aunts of the world. [don't miss…
You'd think it would stand to reason that companies would understand that most of the movie-goers to animated 3D movies are, you know, kids . And yet, until last month, any cinema showing a RealD 3D movie offered just one (ginormous) siz…
It's hard to imagine right now -- as the kids run around outside in pure daylight until well past 8:00 -- that the days are getting shorter, again. And before we know it, we'll be back to those early mornings of heading out to school whe…
Ever been the person in charge of a group gift, and discovered that special circle of purgatory that involves trying to contact large numbers of people and keep track of who's done what and who still needs to contribute? Yeah. Not fun. A…
There's a lot of adorable children's furniture out there, but the big problem is the cost. At least for the stuff I tend to like, which is vibrant and modern and doesn't have the word Shaker anywhere near it. Then I discovered the afford…
With the recent slew of crib recalls, and now Pottery Barn Kids voluntarily recalling 82,000 drop side cribs today , it seems that the CPSC has had enough, so much so that they voted unanimously to ban the sale of drop side cribs in the …
My biggest complaint about fashion magazines, besides the perfume samples, is... well, the perfume samples. But I also hate it when my eyes fall in love with cuteness before hitting the huge price tag printed below. Shoestring Magazine s…
I still remember my daughter's first "friend" - a garish stroller toy that we dubbed Guy the Giraffe pronounced the French way, Gee , because it was the one sound my three month-old made. Oh how she loved that thing. And sucked its antle…
With the temperature finally reaching holy mama, it's hot out there --and that's the technical term--I love looking at artwork that makes it somehow feel cooler inside. The popsicle print from LA's Mint Buttercup is giving me goosebumps,…
Most of the online shopping I do at UK shops is of the window variety. As in, browsing only, do not pass go, do not add to my cart, do not pay international shipping. But sometimes I stumble on a sale so good, it makes it worth it to do …
If you're anything like me, you spent all this time picking out the nursery colors, obsessing over the crib sheets, and then completely forgetting to beautiful the very thing you look at 40 times a day--the diaper storage. I never really…
Every parent has that one major sensitivity with their kid ; that one issue that you are more freaked out about than other parents. For my sigOth, it's sunscreen. He's hyper aware of what SPF we've got, what ingredients are in it, and ho…
A s the resident beauty product maven around here, I've always wondered why so many bath and beauty products include calendula. I mean, how powerful can a pretty little yellow flower be? I also wonder how they get the oil out of a rosehi…
This weekend, I finally managed to wrangle my kids--and a few of their friends -- to see Toy Story 3 . Now before you read any further, I must first disclose a major bias: In my mind, Pixar's John Lasseter can do little wrong. I walked i…
I can't believe I'm already looking at back to school items for my kids, but that I am. So I checked in to see if last year's CMP find, Dabbawalla Bags , was doing anything new for 2010. And that they are. Good stuff too! I adore this Un…
I have no trouble getting my kids to go outside on a summer's day, it's getting them to stay outside when the siren song of kids' cartoons and super-exciting video games beckon from the air-conditioned comfort of our home. That's when I,…
Back in my day, kids wore My dad can beat up your dad shirt (well, certain kids) and they were considered oh so hilariously irreverent. We've certainly come full circle since then, haven't we, because the new hilariously irreverent kids …
They say you don't get something for nothing but today, that's not quite the case. Because Borders Books has got a special deal going right now when you download one of the Borders eReader apps , which are also free. Downloads are for bo…
The first time I saw that little pink plus sign, my life changed. Not only because I was going to bring a human being into the world, but also because I knew that the skin care section of my medicine cabinet had become a mine field. No s…
I'm not one for fussing with my girls' hair too much - if we remember to brush it in the morning that's a good day. But I do know that the poor kids have inherited my frizzies, coupled with their dad's thin hair, which is a great combo, …
I really do like to cook, but I also like to keep my meals simple. Especially since my family eats like a pack of wolves and the meal that took me an hour to make is gone in about 8 minutes. So I've decided that, at least a few times a w…
It was her very first ballet recital, and I wanted everyone we know to see her joyful smile as she hugged her first bouquet of roses. But that doesn't mean I'm going to just give away our new custom photo cards from Shutterfly. I might j…
The first time I took my daughter New York City, she spent so much time swiveling her head in every direction, I was afraid she'd tip over. I could have done a better job planning New York City for kids, and prepping my little suburban d…
