I loved Stacie’s recent post on Father’s Day recipes all using bacon, but some of them are arguably more for the semi-pro home cook to take on as opposed to say…the kids. If your kids are into helping you whip up something yummy and easy for dad, here are some recipes for breakfast or brunch that any parent would be thrilled to have the children make. Also, clean up.

And psst…if they do a good job, maybe have older kids start making you breakfast every weekend? Just a thought.

Sour Cream Pancakes

I’m smitten for this rich pancake recipe from Smitten Kitchen, at top. If you’ve never tried adding sour cream to pancakes, don’t knock it–it makes them a little tangy and not too sweet, which means they’re just primed for a fat drizzle of real maple syrup.

Father's Day brunch recipes: Praline bacon | Cool Mom Picks

Praline Bacon
Having first eaten this addictively awesome dish a few years back at Elizabeth’s in New Orleans, I’ve been craving it ever since. Alton Brown has a highly rated recipe requiring nothing more than bacon, brown sugar and pecans. Dont skimp on the good quality ingredients–there are only three!

Father's Day brunch recipes: Potatoes with Mexican Chorizo at Leite's Culinaria

Potatoes with Mexican Chorizo
David Leite of Leite’s Culinaria is always good for his 5 ingredients or less category and this hearty, satisfying, and “crazy easy recipe” from the authors of the Muy Bueno cookbook fits the bill. 3 ingredients, period. Only 25 minutes of prep time and most of that is just letting the potatoes cook.

Father's Day brunch recipes: Creme brulee oatmeal from Steamy Kitchen

Creme Brule Oatmeal
Does that sound decadent or what? Jaden of Steamy Kitchen adapted this recipe and it’s not too hard – quick oats plus vanilla pudding, bananas, brown sugar and not much more. Almost like a Bananas Foster Oatmeal. Just make sure you make a lot; I bet the whole family will want seconds. (And I second her reco on using McCormick’s Saigon Cinnamon. Yes!)

Father's Day brunch recipes: Cheddar jalapeno cornbread from Martha Stewart

Scrambled Eggs and Jalapeño Cheddar Cornbread
Add a kick to a basic plate of scrambled eggs with this yummy recipe from Martha Stewart. Save time by using frozen corn kernels, but fresh corn is so so good right now. If the kids can’t handle the jalapenos I suppose you could omit them…or just shrug and think, well, more for Daddy. And you.

Father's Day brunch recipes: Ham, eggs and polenta recipe from One Hungry Mama

Ham, Eggs + Polenta
Our own Stacie Billis of One Hungry Mama hooks us up with this trifecta of hearty Father’s Day breakfast perfection. Kids will love stirring (and stirring) the polenta while you get to work on frying the eggs. Really simple, and with all that protein, he won’t be craving lunch an hour later.

Father's Day brunch recipes: Leek bacon goat cheese pizza at food52

Leek, Bacon and Goat Cheese Pizza
This recipe from Jennifer Steinhauser on Food52 was a community pick for top recipe and you can see why. It’s hard to go wrong with bacon on pizza, but coupled with leeks and goat cheese…better make two. Buy premade dough and make it easier on yourself.

Father's Day brunch ideas: Fried egg sandwich at Leite's Culinaria

Fried Egg Sandwich
Simple can be sublime, and provided what he does Saturday night, this Sunday morning breakfast could be just the right amount of carbs and greasy protein for the morning. Thank cookbook authors Max and Eli Sussman for offering this one up at Leite’s Culinaria.
