For me, one of the few downsides to the holidays is having to smell that nasty synthetic pine tree scent wafting from candles everywhere. Or worse, the cinnamon scent. It smells less like grandma just baked a pie, and more like grandma just got back from the cheap candle booth at the flea market.

Joya Candles to the rescue. Higher end in quality but still accessibly priced at $22, they’re a great hostess gift or a quick way to make your home a bit homier. Each one is handmade and handpoured from a special vegetable wax (i.e. no pretroleum products), with a cotton wick that burns smoke-free. And the fragrances are dee-licious. You can find Joya candles at the all-new skincare and wellness emporium, Fabula, run by former Bliss Soho superstar aesthetician, Claudia Colombo. Poke around – I wouldn’t be surprised if the candles aren’t all you add to your shopping cart. –Liz
