We launched our very first Safer Toy Guide last October during the “Year of the Recall” (remember that?) but just because we haven’t been overwhelmed with toy recalls yet this year, doesn’t mean parents don’t want safer toys for their kids this holiday season and beyond. And so, we’re happy to present our 2008 Safer Toy Guide.

We’ve scoured our favorite shops to find the coolest toys and play things, like safer teethers and rattles, to fantastic cars, dolls, ride-ons and much more, all of which are handcrafted, locally made, organic, fair trade, or simply safer alternatives for your kids–and ours! And oh yeah, none of them are boring or dull.

Take a peek – we bet you’ll find something for every little one on your list. Plus when you shop from our guide, you’re supporting small, family run businesses and independent artisans, many of which are parents just like us.

And let’s face it. There’s just something great about making kids smile without the power of batteries. -CMP Staff

EXTRA COOL: WIN IT! We’ve got an amazing cherry and walnut play kitchen ($350 value) from Palumba and a $250 gift card from super shop Bitsy Birdie up for grabs to one lucky winner drawn at random! Just put our Safer Toy button (found here) up on your blog or website’s sidebar, send your url to [email protected], and we’ll enter you in our random drawing around New Year’s. US and Canada only (Canadian residents responsible for shipping costs)
