My favorite jewelry shop anywhere in the entire universe, hands down, is this beautiful little boutique in Lenox, Mass called Sienna Gallery. Owner Sienna Patti has put together one of the most respected, most exquisitely curated collection of one-of-a-kind artisan pieces in the country–with the prices to match. So I was absolutely ecstatic when I discovered that she’s just created a Stimulus Jewelry Project to help knock a few zeros off some of her offerings for those of us whose tastes often exceed our budgets.
Essentially Sienna has called for artists she represents to create pieces all in the $100-500 range, even while plenty of them make museum-quality pieces worth ten times that. A remarkable 80 artists agreed, and all I can say is set aside some time to browse. The work is just spectacular.
In the earring department, I’m drooling over Boston artist Efharis Alepedis’s black leather earrings with red coral beads, the collection of vintage rhinestone earrings from Lola Brooks, Sayumi Yokouchi’s french wire drop earrings (shown), and pretty much everything from Kristin Bolhuis. I also adore Alexia Cohen’s hand-carved mahogany and silver bangle (shown) and that whimsical mixed media necklaces from Hilary Pfeifer for days I could use a little yellow and turquoise pick-me-up. And while I’m not always crazy about Swarovski crystal jewelry, if you’re a big cocktail ring fan (me! me!) artist Barbara Seidenath’s Hard Candy cocktail ring will be calling your name.
Every piece is entirely one-of-a-kind, so if you see something you love, grab it now.
Also, my birthday is coming up in a couple of months. Just, you know, FYI. –Liz
