A new mom-designed organic kids clothing line called Gardin has just launched and I’m doing a little happy dance. Because while there are no shortage of appliqued kids tees and rhinestone kids tees and kids tees that say something ironic and obscene in another language, it sure is hard finding high quality, basic shirts that your kids can wear day in and day out.

The quality of Gardin’s kids’ shirts is just terrific – the 100% organic cotton kids’ henley is thick and soft with just enough stretch, and I love finding a great kids’ polo shirt without a corporate logo on the chest. There’s also a nice 3/4 sleeve girls tee which is my secret trick for helping to keep sleeves out of the watercolor palate or the cereal bowl.

If you tend to do your kids’ clothes shopping at J Crew, you’ll find the prices at Gardin are comparable. Which is more impressive considered they’re made at a small fair trade Chinese factory that only works with sustainable fabrics. See? It can be done. –Liz
