So what do I have in common with some of the coolest celebrity moms in America? And no, it’s not rock-hard abs; it’s an appreciation of Organically Raised: Conscious Cooking for Babies and Toddlers, an intriguing new “cookbook with a conscience,” by Bohemian Baby founder Anni Daulter with Shante Lanay.
Organically Raised goes beyond simple recipes to explore the reasoning behind feeding our children organic foods and the benefits of eating locally and seasonally. Starting with baby’s first bite of food, it outlines a healthful eating plan for every stage of growth, peppered with beautiful photos and stories. The author also offers mantras and tips to help you cook mindfully and infuse your kitchen with love and memories– something I never mastered as I juggled two children, a paintbrush, a laptop, and a blender full of steaming sweet potatoes. It’s like yoga for baby food.
I’m especially impressed with the zesty international recipes combining healthful foods that will actually taste good to tiny (and grown-up) tongues. Most of them were even named after their kid-tester fans, such as Veronica’s Pumpkin Poppers and Duke’s Delicious Mozzarella Bruschetta which is a sweet touch.
Oh, how I wish I had had this book when I thought combining lentils, brown rice, and broccoli was the height of health–but forgot about taste, because I’m no chef. Guess how quickly I was wearing that concoction? Thrrpt.~Delilah

Thanks so much for the review of my book. I deeply appreciate your thoughtfulness and time and hope that you enjoy the recipes! It was so much fun writing the book, and I am excited about sharing my second book which is due out in Spring, 2011 called Popsicle Craze…Stay Tuned…
