What I want for Valentine’s Day: LOVE! What my kids want for Valentine’s Day: CHOCOLATE! Okay, I want chocolate, too, but I like fancy chocolate. For the kids, I’ll be whipping up one of these super easy, homemade chocolate treats for Valentine’s Day. The pricey stuff may be mine, but the stuff made from the heart is theirs. They always get the better deal.
The Chocolate Cherry Candy Cups (above) from A Farmgirl’s Dabbles make me smile. These no-bake treats are festive on the outside, but when you take a bite and realize they are pink inside, your kids will swoon.
All kids like food on a stick (proven fact) and I like these easy Chocolate Strawberry Pops from The Decorated Cookie. These are like a kid version of chocolate covered strawberries and cutting the strawberry into a little heart is an inspired touch.
I’ve recently come to learn that making baked doughnuts is way easier than I realized. You’ll need a doughnut pan, but I promise that you’ll get your eight dollars worth out of this minor kitchen investment, from Joy the Baker’s Double Chocolate Cake Doughnuts recipe alone. Swap the rainbow sprinkles for red and pink ones and promise that you’ll let at least 24 hours pass before making these again.
This isn’t pure chocolate, I admit, but who’s going to argue with s’mores? These Chocolate Covered S’mores are an indulgence from my own site, One Hungry Mama. They are shockingly easy to make and devastatingly delicious. To make them more Valentine-ready, use pink or red sprinkles, or the ones shaped like little hearts.
Leave it to Bakerella, the mad genius behind cake pops, to come up with the easiest and most mouthwatering Valentine’s Day treat this side of cake pop land. Her Chocolate Peanut Butter Truffles call for just three ingredients. Three! And look at how gorgeous. Want. One. Now.
If you’re feeling like a very generous parent on Valentine’s morning (or any time in the coming week), there’s no more outrageous way to let the kids start the morning than with chocolate. Recently we found this amazing Chocolate Pancake Recipe with Chocolate Sauce from Cooking Classy, and of course the strawberries and bananas make it healthy right? It’s not an “every day” food but on the 14th? Lucky kids.
