My 7 year old daughter has wide feet and we desperately need sandals! Do you have any recommendations for something cute and stylish for girls but not so narrow? Thanks! โ Martha G
Hi Martha, I have the opposite issueโgirls with slightly narrow feetโbut from that alone Iโm definitely familiar with the brands that run wide on them. Here are a few ideas that should help for anyone looking for sandals for girls with wide feet.
Iโm a huge fan of Salt Water Sandals which seem to stretch to fit nearly any shape or size foot. My own girls love theirs, and I see plenty of their wider-footed friends running around in them too. They come in tons of great colors, and while you canโt go wrong with the leather solids or the patents, I think this new floral is adorable.
Umi shoes offers the Celia Sandal and the Cora Sandal which they even acknowledge, albeit subtly that theyโre inspired by Salt Water Sandals. While the look is similar, these definitely run wider. Theyโre also more cushioned and have a really rugged rubber sole thatโs great for the playground, and the five colors are all going to be hits with girls
Umiโs Adena sandal is also pretty adorable in three fun colors. The silver metallic studs give it a little edge which I like a lotโitโs a way of getting some shine in without getting too blingy. Note that some of the photos on the site make the colors look almost neon, but in person youโll see a dustier pink and a pretty mint color more like what you see here.
See Kai Run has always been known for wider shoes that stay stylish and durable, and wow, has this label expanded since their early days. There are so many cute sandals now like the Johanna Sandal in navy, the Shelly Sandal in four colors including yellow (both shown at very top), and the floral Zora Sandal in a fun silver.
On Zappos I found these sandals by Jumping Jacks Kids which get nice reviews from moms also grappling with the search for shoes to fit wide feet. I definitely like the white for summerโthis is one brand in which the metallics are a little over-the-top for me.
Pons Avarcas for children (also in the classic Pons Avarcas style with an ankle strap) are so cute and comfy and my girls live in theirs, even a year later. In other words, they stretch to fit and weโre getting more wear out of them than I ever expected. Just know the suede can take a bit of a beating if your kids are hard on their shoes; I might stick with a darker color like the navy. Order a size up.
I own a pair of Pons myself, and theyโre definitely wide on me so I think thatโs pretty standard for this brand. Iโll also add that even my younger daughter, who finds that every shoe hurts her (usually after itโs too late to return them of course), absolutely loves her Pons, and thatโs saying something.
