I’m often asked for the best t-shirts for women — why this is such a hard thing to find I don’t know, but it is. My answer these days: If you like a crew neck tee, the Uniqlo crew-neck tees are on sale for just $9.70 each this week. Wow.
They’re thick, soft, and slightly structured. They’re so flattering and well-made, that they look like a proper shirt under a blazer or sweater. Plus, they aren’t sheer; so for those of us old enough to not want our bra straps hanging out everywhere, you’re covered. Literally. And they hold up so well in the wash! I’ve had a few for three summers and they still look good as new — though skipping the dryer and hanging to dry can help.

As for sizing, I’m busty with a small-ish waist. I find that while the small works on me for a tighter fit, I’m a bit more comfortable in the medium, both in terms of the length (I prefer to cover my waistline) and the looser fit around the bust. I also appreciate the slightly longer sleeve length that doesn’t slide up to reveal my underarms (or ruh, razor stubble) when I lift your arms up.
My only complaint: I wish they came in more colors! I’ve stocked up in black and grey and just bought a couple more, but would love some stronger, less earthy tones at least for my skin color.
Okay I lied, I have one other complaint: My partner now buys the men’s crew-neck tee for himself, so we have to be sure we’re not twinning when we go out to dinner.
