The artistic potential of fables and fairy tales is often obscured by the pedestrian illustrations that accompany them. Those classic stories are so full of vivid characters, I’m actually surprised that more artists aren’t inspired by them.Tara Hogan brings a new level of sophistication to children’s artwork that I’m just loving,. Her pencil and ink Aesop’s Fables prints are simple yet striking, with detail that draws in both children and adults. I love Tortoise and Hare in particular, but with such high quality artwork being so affordable–$30 for each print–I’m tempted to buy a set of two or three. Isn’t there a fable about the mom who decorated her nursery beautifully on a budget? –Julie
