We were so happy to see the winner of Remodelista’s Best Professional Children’s Space in their Considered Design Awards. Especially because it gives us so many ideas for our own kids’ spaces.

Wettling Architects Childrens Bedroom on Remodelista | cool mom picks

Click over to Remodelista and see the wonderful work of Wettling Architects, a NYC firm which created a not-very-city-like beach house on Shelter Island. While I will probably be affording my own fancy beach house…uh, never, and nautical may not be your own kids’ room theme, I still love that there are so many ideas you can apply in your own home to maximize space.

•Minimal color palette (because you know those toys and treasures will amass, adding plenty of color on their own)

•Wall sconces as reading lamps for bunk beds

•Plenty of underbed storage

•Bookshelves under the ladder for accessible storage that doesn’t take up extra room

•Sheets that aren’t entirely matchy-matchy; love the stripe pairing with the print.

Congrats to the winner and thanks to Remodelista, as always, for giving us lots to daydream about. –Liz
