Yes, I’m introducing you to natural feminine care products here, but hey, we’re all women (well, about 98% of us) and you can probably relate to my own minor recurring issue: During my last well visit, my nurse practitioner gently reminded me to ditch the gym clothes immediately after my workout and use feminine wipes if I wasn’t able to shower right away. And so, in an example of perfect timing, I got my hands on something called (wait for it…) Healthy Hoohoo wipes.
I know. I know.
Granted, I giggle every time I look at the package because well, the name and all, and because I’m all for women using the real names for their body parts. But then, the products happen to be pretty awesome, and creator Stacy Lyon’s story is too.
She was inspired to make the Healthy Hoohoo line after the discovery of parabens in the tissue biopsy of her friend who had been diagnosed with breast cancer, as well as extensive research of existing products that were laden with all sorts of dyes and detergents that aren’t so great for your special parts.
I find I use the wipes the most (perfect for the gym bag) which are free of lots of stuff you probably don’t want between your legs, including glycerin, fragrance, parabens, alcohol, sulphates and dye. They are pH balanced, however, so you don’t have to worry about them taking away the good bacteria that you do actually want. However don’t overdo it with the wiping–just keep it on hand when you’re on a heavy gym week or for travel.
It’s definitely more expensive than other ones I’ve found at my local drugstore, but I’m willing to pay a little more to keep chemicals away from my, um…whatever you feel comfortable calling it. I guess it’s hoohoo in this case. Still makes me laugh.
You can purchase the Healthy Hoohoo natural feminine care products on their site or at Drugstore.com.
