I was super excited to hear about Mo Willems latest, The Thank You Book, a new adventure in friendship between Gerald and Piggie that’s launching today. The one downside: this is the 25th and final book in the Elephant & Piggie series (say it ain’t so, Mo!) so this is one you Willems fans will definitely want to get your hands on.
I mean, for your kids.

The book is really a lesson in gratitude, something all kids can stand to learn over and over. In the story, Piggie feels so overwhelmed with gratitude that he plans a “Thank-o-rama” to tell everyone he knows just how much he appreciates them. Gerald is skeptical of this ambitious plan but tags along anyway. As Piggie prepares to thank each and every one of his friends, Gerald starts to feel left out.
Spoiler alert: It all turns out great in the end.
This is really a sweet, subtle lesson in how we tend to forget to appreciate those who are closest to us and I imagine it will be required bedtime reading for many months.
Just for fun, you can also download these free printable Thankorama speech bubbles for an at-home project with the kids. Maybe even to include in an upcoming homemade Mother’s Day or Father’s Day card? Hey, any excuse to remind kids the importance of saying thank you.
