How many of us have wanted to chuck the soul-sucking corporate life and follow our hearts? (I’m raising my hand over here.) Jenni Gaynor actually had the guts to do it.
A mother who left the stressful world of NYC book publishing to pursue her artistic ambitions, she now makes beautifully crafted handmade note cards via SLC Studio. She seems to create pretty much whatever strikes her fancy, which you’ll see reflected in the broad range of offerings, from a gorgeous boxed set of flower greeting cards (shown here) to a series of notes adorned with charming line drawings–my favorite depicts a stick figure and a robot bonding over a triple-decker ice cream cone.
I can’t help but smile when I look at her work – not only because, like Jenni, I love sending and receiving handwritten cards. But also because I know that in a very small way, my purchase is sticking it to the man. – Julie
