I’m loving linoleum block prints lately. There’s something about this ye olde time-y way of putting image to paper that actually feels really fresh amongst today’s abundance of computer generated design. So I was happy to stumble upon this line of animal prints from Portland (by way of Japan) artist Ayumi Piland.
I love the rich, earthy colors and the gently humorous characters. There’s one for each letter of the alphabet, each one so cute it’s hard to just pick a few to highlight; but I settled on the joyful dancing hippo, the well-heeled queen bee, and the zebra wearing what I think is something Patricia Field designed for a New York drag queen.
Each design is printed on heavy cardstock, signed and numbered, and just waiting for a nice frame and a good home. Oh, and the price? Just $10 each. Score! –Liz
