Iโm pretty sure that most mamas will agree that thereโs nothingโnothing!โlike a good childrenโs book. Or a box full of them. Or, if your kids are anything like my 3-year-old, a bedroom that is basically Book Central.
But my kiddo is also quick to swipe her dadโs iPad or my iPhone and settle in with the educational games weโve downloaded for her. So the new childrenโs story app weโve found is right up her book-loving alleyโand some of the celebrity narrators make it even more delightful.
[ADDED: donโt miss a great giveaway after the jump!]
The new childrenโs storybook app from Ruckus Media Group features major starpower. Think Meryl Streep (love her!), Robin Williams, Denzel Washington, Garrison Keillor reading classic kidsโ stories, like Tom Thumb and the Knights of the Round Table.
Each narration also features incredible music by artists such as Elvis Costello, George Winston, and B.B. King (I know, right?) But one of the very, very best things about the apps is that they can grow with your kids with three different settings: kids can listen to the story and watch the animation; they can read it themselves; or they can record their own voices reading the story, then play it back. Not a bad deal at all for $3.99 a pop.
My daughterโs favorite? The Velveteen Rabbit, read by Meryl Streep.
It may take her a few years to truly appreciate John Henry, but you know what? Until then, Iโll take one for the team with that bedtime story. I can totally deal with drifting off to sleep with Denzelโs voice in my ear. -Lexi
