When I saw College Humor’s “fake” trailer for a live-action Dora the Explorer movie, I joined the chorus of voices across the internet begging that this hilarious two-minute trailer be made into a real movie. And that wish has come true.

Dora the Explorer College Humor on Cool Mom Picks

Now along with no more diapers, teething, and 3am feedings, one of the best things about my kids hitting grade-school age is that they no longer subject me to nonstop episodes of Dora the Explorer. There’s only so much Swiper, No Swiping! a mama can take. However, this is different.

College Humor will offer up a three-part miniseries, Dora the Explorer and the Destiny Medallion, beginning today and continuing each Tuesday through April 2.

Starring Ariel Winter of Modern Family, Dora is still the smart, bilingual, bobbed-haired tomboy that we all know, but she now has a tough-talking edge that has me cracking up. Watch her handily defeat the bad guys, or vow to go after Swiper, you old fox in her velcro sneakers.

If the trailer is any indication, this online miniseries will not disappoint, with everyone from Swiper to Diego coming “to life” with hilariously earnest dialogue and kid-friendly questions like Do you see Swiper? in the middle of a gunfight.

If you are at all familiar with College Humor’s videos or the original trailer, you’ll know to use your discretion when deciding whether or not this is right for your own kids to see. The language (yes, there are swears), fighting, and explosions make it rougher than what is showing on Nickelodeon, though my older kids thought it was hysterical. And much more enjoyable than the show they ate up as babes. ¡Delicioso!Christina

Catch the first episode of Dora the Explorer and the Destiny Medallion at College Humor. The second and third episodes will air on March 26 and April 2.
