Of course I’m already to the joys of waterproof mascara in the summer, as we all are by now no doubt. But when the kind woman at the Laura Mercier counter pointed me toward their waterproof eyeliner I was like…wha-ah? For some reason, I had no idea such a thing existed.
Wear all the waterproof mascara you want; you’ll still look racoon-y when you start sweating/crying/being a person like me who rubs your eyes absentmindedly all day, and your eyeliner smudges. Not in a cool smoky eye kind of way. So I plunked down the money, crossing fingers the Laura Mercier Longwear Creme Eye Pencil wouldn’t be another one of those beauty purchases I regret and wow, was I pleased.
Your best bet is to get it on as accurately as possible–quicky!-and use a smudge brush to adjust it before it sets which is fast. I’d say less than 30 seconds. That’s when it becomes harder to smudge around, but also harder to take off. In a good way.
I often apply regular Laura Mercier eyeliner afterwards to fill it in and get a little smudgier if I am going for that look. Hint: The Slate is a nice charcoal color that balances the black waterproof one which acts like a base for me. Though all 7 of the colors look pretty gorgeous.
At the end of the day (literally) you’ll find that whatever has happened to the rest of your makeup, you’ve still got something of an eye left and that’s pretty great. Even on sweaty days. I haven’t tried it in the pool yet, but I do notice that you need to target it more than your regular stuff to get it off. May I recommend a great eye makeup remover, perhaps?
