I’ve noticed that old school “Cootie Catchers” have been making a comeback lately, but I particularly like the rebranding of them as Chatterboxes. After all, that’s a little more palatable than the idea of picking bugs off of your friends, right? (Ew.) If your kids adore them them like mine, check out the sweet new printable just out from our talented friend Lonela of Tiny Me, who’s always whipping up something adorably crafty and cool and generously offering it up for free download.
The free printable Chatterboxes are perfect for Valentine’s Day, with fortunes like You have a heart of gold and Just seeing you makes my day. There’s also a separate template for download that allows you to fill in your own messages, which is I’m sure what my daughter would like best. Even she writes things like “you like to poop”
Ah, fourth graders.

Lonela has also designed two really cute free printable Valentines treat boxes (also shown at very top) complete with a little surprise note to tuck inside. They’d even be cute for birthdays and other holidays too.
I thank her profusely for the choice of very clear step-by-step illustrated or photographic instructions, for people like me who look at these things and think, I’m supposed to do what to which corner with the what? It’s basically an origami folding exercise, and when you’re done, if it comes out as gorgeous as her photos, I imagine it will make a cute little DIY gift all on your own.
Fill it with conversation hearts, jelly beans or gummy hearts for a favorite teacher, a BFF, or even your own sweetheart. All without spending a fortune.
