I discovered The Volume Mascara by Kevyn Aucoin last year when Emily from Cupcakes and Cashmere raved about it, and after using it for this long (hey, it takes me awhile!), I feel comfortable saying that it is by far the best mascara I have ever owned. As someone who wears contacts and needs a smudge-proof mascara that’s not waterproof, I’ve only really ever found a couple that work well, and even then, I could never wear them on my lower lashes without it falling onto my face within a couple of hours, usually less. That was until I tried this one. Let’s just say my lower lashes feel special again.

The Volume Mascara by Kevyn Aucoin is a tube mascara, so it wraps around your lashes and once dry, does not smudge or smear. Like, at all. And even better, to take it off, you actually just use warm water. No make-up remover required. I generally just gently rub my eyes with a wet cotton pad, and then wash the pieces of the tubes off my face with my facial cleanser. It takes a little getting used to, but if you’re like me, you won’t miss having to use make-up remover or those little make-up remover pads to try to get them off your face.
You might need to get used to the tiny brush (see above), which is a lot smaller than what you might be used to. But it really does help you hit every single lash and get very close to your eyelid. Keep in mind that it’s definitely on the very high side in terms of price, but considering how well it wears, it’s the one make-up splurge I’m willing to save my pennies for.
