Back to school for my kids means back to boots for me. Seems fair, right? Take one peek at any fall 2022 shoe trend post at your favorite style magazine and it’s boots, boots, and more boots, which yay! because I have that category covered in my closet. But that doesn’t mean I won’t treat myself to a new pair or two.
Here, 5 fabulous boots for fall, along with their affordable Target dupes in case you want to try a shoe trend without investing a lot of money. Though I will say this: all of these boot styles are pretty classic, so if you do decide to invest, you’ll be able to wear them for a very long time.

Western booties
I bought a pair of Lucchese cowboy booties many years ago in Austin, and every time I wear them, I get a ton of compliments because the bootie height is fairly unique to this style. So, you can bet I’m excited that these are in this fall. This Gona Western Bootie from Marc Fisher is available in a ton of different colors and is a good gateway into cowboy boots if this is your first pair.
Target dupe: The women’s Shana boot is pretty similar, just with a lower heel and fewer color options. But if you want to saddle up with this trend (sorry, I had to) without spending a bunch of money, this is the way to go.
Tall western boots
If you want tall western booties that were made for walking, these Franco Sarto Liandra cowboy boots are gorgeous and subtle (not too pointy, not too busy). These would look perfect over jeans or with a dress or skirt. And, I have a couple of pairs of Franco Sarto shoes myself and they are super comfortable.
Target dupe: You can grab a pair of Target Sadie western boots for a quarter of the price of the Franco Sarto boots, and in a wider variety of colors.

Platform booties
I’m in love with these two-tone platform boots from Marc Fisher (are you sensing a theme – his boots are everything). I can’t really pick a favorite color, but the camel (natural) is calling to me because I have nothing like it in my closet.
Target dupe: The Katrina platform boots at Target look almost identical to the Marc Fisher boots, just at a way lower price. Do with that what you will.
Rain booties
Everyone I know raves about their Hunter booties, and I have to say, the fact that this pair happens to be on sale is mighty tempting. If you’ve had your eye on a pair, now’s the time to snatch them up!
Target dupe: I actually own these Target rain booties (well, an earlier version) and I wear them all the time. Like, they were the best investment I made, and I’m probably going to snag another pair in a different color. Get these!

Chelsea boots
I really need to step away from these, because I basically own a Doc Marten’s version of this Sam Edelman Chelsea boot, but the white! I’ve had my eye on that color all year long.
Target dupe: The Target chelsea boot is just as cute, just cheaper. No surprise there! For how much I anticipate wearing a white boot (not much, I think), this might be the way to go for me.
