As I was walking through the beauty product aisles at the NY Gift show recently, amidst all the thickly perfumed lotions and soaps that smelled like an ice cream shop explosion, boy was I happy to have stumbled into the McEvoy Ranch booth. And to have gotten the chance to try out their absolutely delicious hand lotion.
As it turns out, 80 Acres Hand and Body Lotion is made from organic, extra-virgin olive oil that’s cultivated and harvested right at the Northern California organic olive ranch started by grandmother Nan McEvoy nearly twenty years ago. (Read the McEvoy Ranch story – it’s actually very cool.) Olive oil is nourishing and rich in antioxidants, making it a perfect lotion base. But don’t expect some oily result – the lotion was light, the smell was mild and inviting and if I kept a bottle in the bathroom, I think my guests might be more willing to forgive the boxer shorts on the floor.
There’s also a really indulgent 80 Acres gift basket that makes a nice big-ticket hostess or thank you gift and a smaller hand and body gift set at about half the price. Any future house guests of mine coming to visit? Feel free. I’ll share. –Liz
