Smiling Planet is one of those little companies that just makes you happy. Or at least it made me happy when I discovered their melamine-free plastic plates earlier this year. And I thought they’d be a nice shop to kick off today’s array of peace-themed picks in remembrance of 9/11.
Recently this wonderful, environmentally-committed mom and pop team have taken the charming Antoine de Saint-Exup?ry-esque illustrations from the Smiling Planet book (and plates and placemats) and turned them into adorable, American-made 100% organic cotton tees for kids and adults.
I love the not preachy at all the world is wonder full, let’s make her smile, featuring an illustrated chain of people and animals surrounding the earth. It’s a great way to wear your values on your shirt (or kid’s shirt) without being dogmatic and kind of obnoxious.
The Ohm-saying yoga alligators are pretty cute too. But of course as a mom I’ve also got a fondness for the meditating lion that reads make your mother happy. Yeah, I guess it’s referring to Mother Earth. But I can pretend that it’s me, right? –Liz
