While we don’t tend to cover a lot of local events, we’ve got so many NYC readers (holla!) that we’d be remiss if we didn’t tell you new moms and mamas-to-be about this one: Our friends at Big City Moms and The Bump are hosting a huge honking Biggest Baby Shower Ever that is not to be missed.

There will be tons of food, insane gift bags and freebies from 55 seriously cool companies, eco-tips for new moms from Dr. Greene, great advice from the Bump’s Carly Roney, and we’d imagine, lots of glowing women in cute empire-waist dresses.

You’ll also get to a chance to score major giveaways and doorprizes from companies that you definitely want to get to know, like Bugaboo (hello, free stroller!), Born Free, Skip*Hop, Boon, and Earth’s Best Organics, plus the kinds of small mom-run businesses that we’re always happy to support.

Best of all? You don’t even have to write thank you notes when you’re done. That’s our kind of shower.  -Liz

Hit the Big City Moms Baby Shower Event on April 14, 7:30-9:30, Park East Ballroom, 163 E 67 Street/ Enter on 68th. Get your tickets in advance – they will sell out!

EXTRA-COOL: WIN IT! We’ve got a free standard ticket–a $65 value–to give away to a lucky NY area reader. Just email [email protected] with BIG CITY MOMS in the subject, and tell us your due date (or birthdate if you’ve already got your bambino) and the worst baby advice you’ve gotten so far. Send it by midnight Thursday 4/8 and we’ll draw one winner at random. Good luck!

  1. Well, I can’t enter the contest (not in NY), but I wanted to share the WORST baby advice I’ve ever heard. A neighbor (not the brightest) said that I shouldn’t cut my child’s nail with clippers. She said that I should BITE them off. So gross and so unsanitary. I was too shocked to say anything.
