Alice in Wonderland folk art dollI’m such a huge Alice in Wonderland fan that I spent no less than five days trying to come up with just the right title to pay homage to this amazing Etsy find. And I love it so much that threatening my children with imaginary monsters was my final choice. And I stand by it.

GIMME THE ALICE DOLL, AND NOBODY GETS HURT BY THE JUB-JUB BIRD.

Ahem. So I really like this Alice folk doll set which is one of the many storytime character folk dolls
by Etsy’s Cart Before the Horse, a mom-and-dad business out of Portland,
Oregon. She’s entirely hand-made of quilter’s muslin that has been
painted, sanded, and then painted again for a unique patina that gives
the look and feel of old leather.

(Ed: Sadly it looks like the Alice shown is now sold, but search the shop for “Alice” for other beautiful options.)

cart before the horse folk artThe designs are all really made for sitting on a shelf since they’re actual art–not meant to be played with by little (or big) girls. The pieces are all signed, numbered, and created in limited edition runs of only 25 pieces, each beautifully hand-painted and hand-made,
and the prices reflect that.

But honestly, I’ve been collecting Alice
trinkets for twenty years and have never seen something this nice.
Except my Cheshire Cat tattoo, and you can’t buy that, no matter how mad
you are. ~Delilah
