Trend: Classic jeans and tees or sweaters made edgier with accesories like funky shoes, a faux fur vest, open suspenders

Trend: Playful fur mixed with metallics; big boots with skinny jeans.
And I love love love that metallic sparkle down coat. Practical but still very fun.

Trend: Mid-length pea coat jackets and suede Chukka style boots are huge — I’m seeing them everywhere.

Trend: Navy and white topcoat as a sophisticated (but still practical) alternative to black.

Trend: faux fur, fringe and texture in unexpected places from a cool cap to a confetti skirt or amazing tapestry trousers. And lots and lots of puffy coats!

Trend: Give earthy neutrals a punch with pops of bright orange or red on a jacket or just your shoe laces.
(And fedoras on funky little dudes looks so awesome.)

I love that while everything is styled, nothing here is super precious; I could see my kids nearly anything here to school, then having the ability to dress them up more for parties or events. Let’s just say it would all get a lot of wear.

Here’s a big tip by the way: Don’t limit yourself by shopping in the “boys” or “girls” category — there are some super cool boys’ jackets, tees and vests my girls would really spark to.

Of course this is small-label stuff; you’re not going to find Tarzhay prices on items like well-made faux fur vests or beautifully detailed jackets and jeans. I tend to own mostly affordable basics for my kids, then invest in a few special items they will really adore and wear. Of course it doesn’t hurt that I know I’ll be passing it down from one daughter to the next; the way I see it, I just cut every price in half in my head. Justification FTW.
