Music for Teeny Beboppers

To me, listening to Jazz is like ordering at an Indian restaurant. I may have no idea what’s on the menu, but I always love whatever I get. This counts for Verve Records’ Jazz for Kids: Sing, Clap, Wiggle and Shake, which serves to demystify Jazz and seriously entertain at the same time.

If talk about syncopation and blues chord progressions is too heady, then just think about Ella Fitzgerald singing The Muffin Man. Hello! Does it get any better? Um, no. Well, unless you consider Louis Armstrong’s What a Wonderful Word or Louis Jordan’s Ain’t Nobody Here But Us Chickens or Louis Prima’s Yes We Have No Bananas… the list goes on.
With eleven tracks of classic riffs and crazy lyrics, Jazz for Kids is a toe-tapping, finger-snapping way to introduce your favorite little hipster to some of the genre’s most legendary performers and performances. Dig? -Laura
