One of my favorite trends for kids this spring, besides the whole dip-dye ombre look, is floral clothes. Normally I think of them as a little twee, but what I’m seeing is bold, fun without frills, and nothing like what Laura Ingalls wore back in the day. Here are a ton of great girls’ floral clothes and even a little something just for fashion-forward boys who are digging the look too.

Girls’ floral printed dress ($42.90 pictured above at Zara Kids)
How great is this pattern which starts and stops at the bottom of the dress? This is one I wish came in my own size.
Floral kids’ wellies ($54 at Joules)
You know those April showers are coming soon, and these rainboots will brighten things significantly. I find the chocolate background really fresh.
Royal Flower Girls’ Maxi Dress ($39, Tea Collection)
I got my daughter a maxi dress from Tea last summer and was a little iffy on the length–but wow, she loved it. It has tons of room for movement, it’s perfect on cooler days with a denim jacket, and they wear so well for years. This print is definitely a great addition to the new collection.
Blue rose girls’ capri pants ($50 at Joules)
Capris scream spring to me, and uh, I can’t wear something like this but my kids can. Pair it with a red tank in july, or pretty much any color at all.
Marimekko Helli 1 Floral Raincoat
When I think graphic florals, I think Marimekko. I always like their classic floral print, which comes on clothes from shoes to onesies, but I think as a raincoat it can brighten up the whole street.
Girls’ Floral Cotton Fleece Pullover ($45 at Ralph Lauren)
This cropped pullover is great-looking, with a 3/4 sleeve. I’d put a tank under it (not big on belly shirts for little girls) and pair it with a denim skirt, shorts, seersucker pants like the ones here–pretty much anything.
Kids’ Floral Rucksack ($52 at Joules)
I like the contrast of what would be a delicate floral print, but with the weight and boldness of the rose canvas. It’s not a school bag; probably best for overnights, day trips, or carrying gymnastics clothes and sports uniforms. No one has to know there’s something sweaty inside.
Appaman Ruffle Tee for Girls
Appaman has a cool, graphic take on florals with this fun tee in “robot blue.” There are two other colors but come on! Robots!
Floral Flip-Flops in Kiwi Hydrangea ($16.50 at J Crew)
This graphic interpretation of flowers is adorable. Also, beach!
Boys floral print shirt ($55 at J Crew)
Lest you think girls are the only ones wearing florals right now, I’m seeing the print on boys around NYC these days. I really like this shirt from J Crew, which, as you can see, looks pretty cool on him.
Sooooooo pretty…. I’m going to buy some items. Thanks for sharing!
