This fall we’re loving the patterns and details in fashion inspired by iconic Navajo art and textures and those that bring to life other tribal imagery. Leather, turquoise, feathers, fringe and those bold geometric patterns are statements that can work for everyone, even if you’re strolling down a city sidewalk. (In fact, we’ve seen that very thing!) I’ve collected some of my favorite Navajo-inspired accessories here that I’ve been seeing around the web. They’re absolutely stunning, and I’m tempted to max out my credit card to get one of each if I can’t choose a favorite.
Editor’s Note: please be aware of one important thing when shopping: Under 1990’s Indian Arts and Crafts Act, any contemporary item produced that uses a term like Indian, Native American, or Alaska Native must be made by a member of an actual Native American tribe, or a certified Native American artisan. These items are simply inspired by the incredible artistic traditions of this southwestern US tribe.
We loved the wrap bracelet trend this spring, and this Chan Luu leather and turquoise wrap bracelet is so stylish for the fall. While there are tons of knock-offs out there, her original designs have phenomenal details that make them a favorite with celebs and fashionistas, and we totally see why.
The Sarama hand-beaded clutch by Akira Black Label stands out against your little black dress this fall, and it looks way more expensive than the mere $31 it costs. For a more upscale version, try the Lizzie Fortunado safari clutch (at top).
Fringe is everywhere right now and it can be pretty awesome. But to avoid looking like you’re one of the Village People, be subtle with the details, like this fringed border on the Laine suede fringe boots at J. Crew. (And psst..they’re 25% off right now if you hurry!)
Big chunky scarves are a favorite of mine for transition weather. The Grey Navajo-inspired scarf at Scarf Obsession on Etsy looks so warm and cuddly–perfect for fall nights at football games or just for coffee shop Sundays.
The Sirius necklace by Vanessa Mooney is a serious statement piece. Isn’t the color fantastic? It would be beautiful against with a LBD for a night out, or perfect with a white t-shirt and jeans (and maybe those J. Crew boots?) for a more casual evening.
I love the simple, classic design of this Wool Native American inspired tote by Robin Cottage at Etsy. Perfect for carting those library books or ballet shoes and leotards around with the kids.
Love at First Blush makes handmade leather feather earrings dipped in gold which are absolutely incredible. And they also come in silver (at top) as well as turquoise. One of each, maybe? Trust us – you’re going to see a lot more feather accessories around come fall.
The Swirled Arrowhead Cuff at Anthropologie will be sure to attract lots of attentions whenever you wear it. I love the heaviness of this piece paired with a silky shirt or a simple white oxford with the sleeves rolled up to show off. your great new find.
