Stickers can be the bane of a parent’s existence, especially when they’re plastered to the car windows or gumming up the vacuum cleaner. Ask me how I know. But a mom-and-pop company from Massachusetts caught our attention among the Martha Stewart American Made finalists for turning boring old stickers into a craft project for kids, a nifty wedding gift, a way to make the world a prettier place, and a great business employing people with disabilities.

Sweet… basil!

Plant Stamps are made in the USA and come in a variety of styles to suit any occasion from a wedding to a baby shower to holidays to simply a job well done. They look like regular stickers, but each one contains seeds that will activate in water and grow into a variety of wildflowers or basil–the only herb listed so far.

Planting directions are printed on back, which means you can send them to anyone, anywhere, and know that they can grow something beautiful that’s going to last a lot longer than a bouquet of mums.

You can also purchase Plant Stamps on Ebay in themes like holiday, “good job” type stickers for students (shown at very top), and a simple floral that’s perfect for weddings, baby showers, or other special occasions.

Plant Stamps are seeded stickers that you can plant so they grow into flowers

If you really like the idea of stickable, plantable stationery, you can also vote for Plant Stamps in the Martha Stewart American Made contest to help founders Jim and Barry move up the ranks toward grand prize consideration. Because unlike the stickers the kids have stuck to my windows, Plant Stamps can be easily weeded and composted when you’re done. Now that’s my kind of sticker.

Buy Plant Stamps plantable stationery on Ebay. A 3-pack kit includes 27 stamps for $14.99 with free shipping. Or ask your local stationer to carry them; there’s not a Store Locator on the Plant Stamps website yet, unfortunately. But we hope they take off!
