Think laid-back, Southern California, bohemian chic and you’ve got Frankie & Sue‘s new fall collection of dresses for girls. They’re all about jewel tones, which I love for fall, and while there’s a lot of mix-and-match patterns, they’re working towards a more cool, not-cutesy vibe.

These are comfortable cotton clothes for girls to play in, but pretty enough to wear out to a party. And while not everything in the collection is our cup of tea, I think a few of the dresses in particular make great all-around pieces for my daughter’s closet.

Comfortable clothes for girls: Frankie & Sue Harmony dress

These clothes are inspired by relaxed Southern California culture and I like that they’re made there from start to finish. I love the relaxed knits that my daughter calls “so amazingly incredibly comfortable.” (Yes, that’s a quote.) From a mom’s perspective, the wovens aren’t as soft, and probably should be ironed after you wash them (which does not jibe with my relaxed vibe to be honest) but the sizing holds up well through the wash and the colors still look vibrant. However do pay attention to their sizing chart—I feel like the sizes run a little big. Then again, considering the prices, you might want to buy them big so you get a few years out of them. You know how we love girls’ dresses that become tunics later on over a pair of leggings.
