It’s that time of year, so I was looking back at our post on colorful toy storage options, and came across the toy chests from Drift Studio. (Thanks, Christina!) So I clicked over to see what was new, and wow. As much as this Brooklyn mama loves the Brooklyn maps toy chest that we originally featured, I really dig the other toy chest designs from this Wisconsin based studio, too. From geometric patterns and graphic jungle animals to retro-toy designs like paper airplanes or jacks, there’s definitely something for any decor. Or hey, maybe it will inspire the decor theme to begin with.
Each chest is gorgeously handcrafted–with a price to reflect that–and there’s even a nice giveback story in the L.I.F.E. Line of animal designs which was designed in partnership with conservancies to raise awareness of the East African ivory trade that’s destroying the elephant and rhino population.
Of course they’re not just good for toys–the more sophisticated styles would make fun storage boxes or blanket chests for any room in the house. There’s even a nice selection of wooden wall art that coordinates with the trunks, but never gets too matchy-matchy.
For myself, I’m particularly taken with the mid-century inspired art designed by Little Things Studio, and pairs with this gorgeous chest, above. So hey, if you are going to design a whole room you’re halfway there already.
Find the handmade toy chests by various independent artists online from Drift Studio. They ship free in the continental US, and delivery takes 3-4 weeks. PLEASE NOTE: The site indicates that sales are on hold, but that note has been up so long, we’re convinced that the studio is working, but the website needs updating.
