Here’s James Harrison’s controversial Instagram post about rewarding participation, not winners.
We both actually talked about this topic a loooong time ago on our personal blogs. Kristen actually kept her son home from his baseball team dinner to avoid the participation trophy (that she had to pay for!). Liz just told her readers that your child is not special. (Actually, she talked about David McCullough’s viral high school commencement speech; not her own readers.)
On Dad2Summit, Whit Honea says children shouldn’t return the participation trophies, which he also discussed in a piece over on CNN by Kelly Wallace, along with Ashley Merryman, Hilary Levey Friedman, and Mark Hyman.
