I was perusing my local Soma last week to pick up a few new bras when I spotted a women’s t-shirt that looked pretty awesome. And well, it turns out that I was indeed correct.

Their Essential Short Sleeve Tee, which I snatched up in black (seen here) and also in white, is the perfect wardrobe staple, particularly for those of us ladies with a little 8-year post partum muffin top happening. (Yes, even after my weight loss I still have a bit of a bulge). The double lining on the front and back means it doesn’t cling, and covers a lot of the lumps and bumps I don’t really want highlighted by a flimsy shirt.

The scoop neck hits at a very flattering spot, and overall the cut is more boxy than fitted, so you can still wear it under a blazer or jacket to work but easily alone with a pair of jeans without you feeling like you need a tank or cami underneath it.

I’m not sure about you, but I have the hardest time finding t-shirts that flatter an over-40 woman’s body and don’t look ragged after a couple of washes. Yes, this one is definitely on the pricey side for a t-shirt, but if I’m able to wear it with pretty much everything for more than a few months, it’s worth every penny.
