After science journalist and author Melinda Wenner Moyer published the NY Times article, How to Talk to Your Kids About Ukraine, I knew we had to have her back on Spawned to elaborate on her 5 expert tips.

You may remember Melinda from our recent interview on raising kids to be kind, empathetic, awesome grown-ups based on her top-selling book, and I’m so grateful she took the time to take us through  the 5 tips in her article with more detail:

How to talk to kids about Ukraine: Advice from Melinda Wenner-Moyer based on her popular NYT article

1. Take cues from your kid
2. Look for signs that your kid is feeling anxious
3. Don’t bombard kids with news or scary images
4. Get to the root of their fear
5. Appease their concerns while taking them seriously

Listen now to this short interview, and I think it will help answer a lot of the questions we’ve all struggled with, no matter how old our kids.
